ME-TAG (Medical Device Location System)

ME-TAG (Medical Device Location System)

ME-TAG automatically collects data from medical devices to keep track of their locations and operations. Tangible benefits delivered by this system are enhanced availability of medical devices, fewer devices going astray, and streamlined management.

It was jointly developed by Yoshikawa Kogyo RF Semicon and the Medical Device Center at the University of Miyazaki Hospital. In this system, each tag coupled to a different medical device emits a radio signal only when it approaches reader, thereby extending its battery life.

Features

Radio signals are not emitted inside operating rooms, intensive care units, and other spaces with no tolerance for radio wave interference as long as readers are installed outside them.
